Requirements Overview

The State of California is the first state to offer the opportunity for companies to file electronic property tax returns. TCI's property tax product needed to add this capability and contracted with KBLC to develop it. The State of California provided the XML Schema Definition (XSD) file that formally described the elements of the XML document necessary to file electronically.

KBLC's Solution

• Develop fully-integrated VFP procedures to produce electronic return.
• Generate XML source files.
• Create an XSLT document based on the California-supplied XSD document.
• Apply XSLT document to source XML to generate final XML tax returns.

Results

• Enabled TCI customers to file the first electronic property tax returns in the country.
• Aided California in finalizing the XSD document through this process.
• Simplified tax return evaluation process for the State of California.
